Equipment

Did you know that a veterinary hospital is very similar to a human hospital? An animal hospital requires equipment used by radiologists, ultrasonographers, dentists, pathologists, opthalmologists, dermatologists and surgeons, including orthopaedic surgeons. We regularly invest in upgrading our equipment to provide your pet with the latest in veterinary care. Here are just some of the things you will find at our practice

Autoclave

An autoclave is used to sterilise surgical instruments. This allows us to guarantee that your pet will receive a sterile surgery kit for each surgical procedure.

In House Laboratory

We are able to perform various pathology tests such as blood and urine tests using state of the art diagnostic equipment. This allows us to provide faster diagnosis and treatment. On occasion we may require more detailed testing and engage the services of a specialist laboratory when required.

Digital Radiology

Otherwise referred to as digitial x-ray,  Digital Radiography provides us with the latest in veterinary medicine diagnosis. Providing real-time results, in a manner which is less stressful for your pet. The benefits of using digital technology include short processing which means a shorter and therefore safer anaesthetic, less exposures because specialised computer software allows us to look at an image on a computer monitor in different views (i.e. magnify on specific body parts instead of taking more exposures using the radiograph machine). It also means that images can easily be saved to a patients history (computer records) making them easily accessible and results can easily be emailed to specialists should the need arise.

Surgivet Anaesthetic Monitoring

The Surgivet allows us to offer state of the art anaesthetic monitoring. It monitors oxygen saturation of the blood, blood pressure, heart rate and ECG all while your pet is under anaesthetic. It also allows us to monitor blood pressure in cardiac patients and assess vital parameters in emergency cases.

Intravenous Fluid Pump

This machine monitors the rate of fluid flow and delivers the correct amount of fluid to your pet. Fluids are not only used for the treatment of sick patients but for those undergoing routine surgery such as desexing so they recover quickly.

Ultrasound

An ultrasound is a device that emits sound waves of extremely high frequency so that an image can be displayed. Ultrasound is a valuable diagnostic tool as it is non-invasive and we can use it to examine most body systems such as a patient’s heart and all of the abdominal contents. An ultrasound can also be used to confirm if a patient is pregnant.
